Job Description:

Your project management skills will provide you the opportunity to be successful as a Caterpillar Production System (CPS) Black Belt. You will have significant impact on Caterpillar's success while making Caterpillar a safer place to work, improve the company's ability to meet customer expectations, improve quality, reduce cycle times and increase profits.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Leading CPS projects using CPS tools and methodologies 

* Coaching, teaching and developing others to use the tools and methodologies of CPS 

* Tapping into unused employee creativity 

* Eliminating waste in every process and driving the organization towards standard work 

* Leading complex to very complex Value Stream Transformations and Rapid Improvement Workshops 

* Measuring results of their projects at the cell and Value Stream levels 

* Integrating Continuous Improvement ideas as part of the process 

* Ensuring projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and the business strategy

* Coaching and mentoring District Field Reps and Dealer Service Personnel in the areas of service operations, including but not limited to: 

- Service Administration: work order management, resources scheduling, service letters and warranty administration, service management systems and service information systems, 

- Service Repair and Rebuild processes and certifications: general shop, specialized shop and component repair center (engine, drive train, hydraulics, undercarriage, etc.), field service and Customer Value Agreements PM and services

- Capacity and capability analysis, including technicians and facilities

- Business Tools for Service Managers, including service department P&L analysis 

- Customer Loyalty and customer experience design and execution

- Service sales and marketing support

- Repair Options strategy and execution, including parts assurance program and applied failure analysis

- Technician learning and development 

 * Presenting service operations performance and progress regularly indicating areas of opportunity and support needs to District Managers, Region Managers and some department managers.

* Conducting service assessments and developing action plans to meet desired results, including but not limited to Service Excellence Program, developing the District Field Reps to become independent in this area.

* Supporting Caterpillar Global Service teams to develop or enhance programs

Additional Information:

* Relocation is available for this position

* Travel requirement is 50% annually

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 10+ years of product support or service operations related experience

  • 6+ years with Field Rep experience – Product Support, Service Operations, or Service Tech. or previous dealer/industry experience or Global Service Experience.

  • Minimum of 6-9 years of experience with dealers in the service operations area

  • Strong project management skills with proven results in planning and follow-up

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience as a 6 Sigma or CPS Black Belt

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven results influencing, mentoring, and collaborating with others

  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision
