JOB PURPOSE:

Managerial and technical direction to a staff of salaried and management, including engineering managers, engineers, and technicians. The team size is approximately 100 staff (permanent and contract). The team are accountable for running the GED-CN engine development facility (15 test cells).

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

As the GED-CN Engineering Manager, you will report direct to the GED-UK Division Manager. You will lead a large team and be accountable for the development facility operation and the development of products to meet tight deadlines (for multiple BU’s). You will use Lean to help drive improvements in Operational Excellence, and continuously improve the quality and velocity of the value stream. You will lead 5S, contamination control and CPS to drive the highest levels of safety and quality in your area. Previous team leadership experience and organization skills are necessary. Advanced program management skills are critical.

This position faces ongoing change, increased competitive pressures, increasing product complexity and ever increasing internal and external customer demands. Significant challenges from managing new technology, managing the leadership in the organization, sourcing technical people, replacing expertise and growing technical experts can be expected. You will continually learn and stay abreast of best practices in the industry, develop as a strategic thinker, and drive continuous process improvements.

This position requires excellent human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to deal with

sensitive issues, mentor and coach and/or persuade others on new technologies, new applications, or potential

solutions. A key responsibility is the ongoing development of the people in the team to help achieve their goals and the business goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the team and operation within budget.
  • Deliver product calibrations, validation and certifications to tight NPI timelines, for multiple BU’s.
  • Drive continuous improvements in operational excellence and safety
  • Drive continuous improvements in the facility, through capital investments and TPM
  • Mentor and coach direct reports
  • Collaborate with global team to drive global alignment and best practices.
  • Collaborate and partner with ICS/CRDC team (legal entity).

Skills and Experience:

Required qualification/skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • Previous leadership experience (minimum 3 years)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (coaching, communication, teamwork)
  • Engine Development NPI experience
  • Strategic thinker

Desirable qualification/skills:

  • Previous operations experience
  • Lean experience
