Our Electric Power division as an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogen Infrastructure and Integration Specialist. In this role, you will be on the forefront of Caterpillar’s support of our customer’s Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) goals. The position will provide both technical and commercial support to project-based work involving the integration of Hydrogen fueled Power Generation, both reciprocating engine and fuel cell based technologies.
A focus area of expertise will be hydrogen creation, processing and infrastructure to support Hydrogen powered power generation projects. The individual will also need to have a strong working knowledge of hydrogen safety and design of hydrogen infrastructure systems. The role will also provide “system” level product definition guidance to the enterprise as Hydrogen based product offerings are developed.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Performing commercial assessment and feasibility analysis for hydrogen infrastructure development to support hydrogen-based power generation projects.
Providing technical guidance to customers and Caterpillar dealers related to the hydrogen fuel system infrastructure needed to support power generation projects, including sizing, storage, safety and delivery considerations.
Providing product definition and functional/technical requirements to the engineering teams involved with “productizing” hydrogen infrastructure components.
Serving as the overall technical integration lead between hydrogen infrastructure systems and power generation products such as reciprocating generator sets, fuel cells and associated controls systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5 - 7 years related experience
Demonstrated technical knowledge of hydrogen creation/electrolysis, systems sizing, storage and delivery systems and infrastructure, preferably through consulting engineering experience.
Demonstrated understanding and capability to perform commercial feasibility analysis for hydrogen plant development.
Ability to effectively communicate highly complex technical information across a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including customers.
Highly analytical and able to effectively reason through complex technical challenges
Progressive technical experience in alternative fuels infrastructure development
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Professional certification as a Professional Engineer
Experience with fuel cell integration as a power source.
Location is Flexible but should be near major airport
