Description
The position has responsibility for providing engineering support to manufacturing for production dyno and genset testing of Gas and Diesel engines. The position requires interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, and orders personnel. Data accuracy and problem resolution are two of the most important aspects of the job. Development and implementation of strategic test cell process improvements are critical to engine hot test efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gas and diesel engine performance troubleshooting for both dyno and genset test on and off shift
- Implementation of testing process improvements, including cell, harness and test software
- Analysis of production test cell results including trend test history analysis with proactive problem identification and resolution
- Coordinate and perform special testing requests, in process or new product validation lug curves
- Creation and maintenance of price list settings and test specifications
- Processing of engine orders for setting requests
- Publish engine performance data to support NPI programs
Background/Experience:
- 4 yr engineering degree – Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Understanding of Caterpillar engine product configuration and manufacturing processes
- A basic to advanced understanding of large gas and/or diesel engine operation
- Trouble shooting skills of engine and test cell instrumentation
- Understanding of dyno and generator test cell operation
- A strong electrical and mechanical background with assembly experience in gas or diesel engines.
- Adept at working with computers and computer systems. Software programs used frequently include, but not limited too:
- Power BI, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel, Access, EOMP, EngPerf, TMI, Common Test, AQE, HVC, SIS, CANape
- Strong data analysis and mathematical skills
- A strong personal initiative
- Project leadership and works well independently
- The proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- Good organization, and time management skills
- Good verbal and written English language skills
Highly Desired Skills:
- Advanced understanding of large gas and/or diesel engine operation
- Advanced computer skills such as Macro writing or Visual Basic for Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access database creation and data manipulation, and SQL queries.
