JOB PURPOSE:
The Retail Services Development Strategy Manager plays a critical role in the success of the collective department driving key strategic initiatives and actions across CISD and across the enterprise. A member of the leadership team, he/she will provide important and strategic input and facilitation, being a key enabler for the Department Head.
 

JOB DUTIES:

This is a highly strategic role that relies on effective networking and exceptional interpersonal skills, as there is significant interdependency across Caterpillar with key business partners including CISD (all departments), MBDs (EXD, EMD, BCP), Component Product Groups, PSLD, Cat Financial, Global Service and the DSDs. The Strategy Manager is diligently focused on delivery and execution relying on their strategic perspective to assure the most relevant outcome and impact in order to drive Retail STU growth. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


•Leading strategy development to improve results for department and division positively impacting Retail STU growth
•Managing metrics, dashboards and supporting management tools in place to monitor performance and develop processes to ensure rigorous data governance to maintain data integrity standards
•Coordinating and developing annual business plan and department expense budgets and results and coordinates rolling business management with Business Resources
•Planning and directing all Retail related projects viewed as critical to department and the enterprise including a standardized process to ensure alignment on “Why Retail” for dealers and internal business partners highlighting the burning platform and supporting financials
•Exceptional networking skills, being accessible, responsive and focused on delivery and execution
•Effective champion for the Retail AM Services, with demonstrated credibility in the organization, able to be persuasive and influence without authority
•Prioritize critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision making
•Organize and facilitate leadership meetings, ensuring clear action items and timely follow-up
•Provide strategic guidance to Department Head, often leading (or co-leading) strategic initiatives that are outside of functional groups.
•Attend various executive/department meetings to keep a pulse on the business and help connect the dots with others across the company
•Planning leadership events, off-sites, and strategic planning/accountability reviews
•Responsible for driving internal and external communication that supports and accelerates impact of the department


The position often confronts complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require non-traditional approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met, and desired results are achieved. The position serves as an advisor/consultant to CISD Department Head. Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
 

Basic Requirements:

4 year College or University Degree required

3+ years in dealer facing role

10+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience

•Maintains positive and can-do attitude and approach to work
•Understanding of and credibility in the field of marketing
•Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
•Entrepreneurial spirit motivated by problem-solving
•MBA or Master's degree

Mandarin experience desired

Additional Information:

  • Travel can be up to 25%
  • Remote work is an option for the role; with expectations that you live within 50 miles of a Caterpillar Hub and/or major international airport for quick travel
  • Relocation assistance is provided for this role; however, you must relocate within 50 miles of a Caterpillar Hub and/or major international airport for quick travel
