For more than 90 years, Caterpillar Inc. has been making sustainable progress possible and driving positive change on every continent. Customers turn to Caterpillar to help them develop infrastructure, energy and natural resource assets.
With 104,000 employees and 2020 sales and revenues of $41.7 billion, we are the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Our company principally operates through its three primary segments - Construction Industries, Resource Industries and Energy & Transportation - and also provides financing and related services through its Financial Products segment.
We are a Fortune 100 corporation with 110 production facilities of which 60 are located outside the US, and we have 160 dealers serving customers in 193 countries. In 2020, we were named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), including both the World and North America indices. This marks the 21st time Caterpillar has been included in the DJSI.
The Corporate Development Group:
The Corporate Development team leads all of Caterpillar’s M&A transactions in addition to serving as an internal trusted advisor on a variety of high impact strategic and commercial projects. The Corporate Development team is aligned by industry with Directors responsible for specific Divisions or Segments and is supported by a pool of Finance Analysts.
The Corporate Development M&A Director (titled internally as Manager), is a part of our Global Corporate Development team with enterprise responsibility and reports to the Global Head of Corporate Development. They require a background in all aspects of M&A including strategic planning, financial analysis, due diligence, transaction structuring, and agreement negotiation. Demonstrated project management skills, ideally managing projects with both internal and external stakeholders is highly desired. Strong analytical, technical, project management, and leadership skills are required. Directors execute the majority of their own transactions without support from external investment bankers, therefore deep, hands-on transaction execution experience is critical (ideally including cross-border). Lastly, a strong executive presence, excellent interpersonal/communication skills, and comfort with an external facing role is also required given the Director’s interaction with target companies, external advisors, and Caterpillar senior executives.
Should the employee desire, the Director role also provides future flexibility to explore other career tracks at Caterpillar.
