Caterpillar’s Peoria Proving Ground and its people ensure our products meet customer requirements for reliability, durability and performance.  We have a great opportunity for you to join this impactful team as a Shipping, Receiving and Crib Inventory Lead!   In this role, you will perform both operational and tactical work to meet the facility's logistics needs. At the direction of the Operations Manager, other facility leaders, and engineers through various communication channels you will own the process that ensures material is shipped, received, and stored quickly and efficiently.  Additionally, you will complete "trafficing" using the Caterpillar IBM system.  You will set up crib parts and ensure that crib parts are ordered in a timely fashion to avoid stock-outs and maximize inventory turns.  You will assist the logistics staff, as needed, in order to maintain material flow.  Finally, you will train and direct the work of the shipping & receiving clerk(s) and crib attendants. 

Specifically, in this role, you can expect to:
  • Perform tasks to improve inbound and outbound material flow.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Investigate root causes and performing corrective action to resolve transportation issues.
  • Schedule supplier deliveries by common carrier.
  • Perform tasks supporting carrier collaboration, coordination of third-party logistics services, and plant site material logistics.
  • Generate inventory reports using MS Access and Crystal Reports
  • Receive and act on work requests using the VM WorkFlow system.
  • Ensure a steady flow of needed supplies by maintaining relationships with various suppliers.
  • Generate monthly fuel reports for accounting for tax purposes.
  • Order trucks for shipments using the corporate Rate Request / Rate Management system.
  • Use various systems for external parts ordering and shipment: UPS World Ship, Altorfer Parts, etc.
  • Use various internal Caterpillar tools and systems, including REDI, DUT, HVC, SIS 2.0, PAC2.
  • Use Caterpillar's legacy IBM system for the following:
    • Creating USOs (Universal Shipment Orders)
    • "Trafficing" all received shipments in the VRNKK & VRNKH (MTS) system
    • Ordering Cat parts in the Antares system
    • Creating requisitions and tracking stock levels in the Crib WX system
    • Resolving grief through the Corporate Accounts Payable system
    • Creating parts orders through the Lognet system


To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • A minimum of 5 years of supply chain or related field job experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Strong skills at managing multiple job functions simultaneously

  • Material Distribution experience
