We have a great opportunity for a BBBEE Champion to join our team in Kempton Park.


This is a role where you can really make an impact internally and externally and have the ability to really own the Transformation strategy, drive it and champion compliance.


As the BBBEE Champion you will develop and implement Caterpillar BBBEE processes in alignment with the strategic direction of the business and be responsible for the development and continuously improvement of the BBBEE scorecard for all Caterpillar legal entities. You will use your leadership skills to provide clear direction and support to the pillar champions (for Management Control, Employment Equity, Skills Development, Preferential Procurement, Enterprise Development and Socio Economic Development) to achieve Caterpillar BBBEE goals and will track and report on Caterpillar BBBEE performance.

 

By keeping abreast of regulatory and compliance requirements, the codes of good practice and leading BBBEE practices, you will remain an expert in your field and will communicate frequently within the organisation to build awareness.

                       

 

As BBBEEE Champion your main responsibilities will be:

 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the BBBEE ensuring that there is a clear focus and co-ordination of activities in order to reach Caterpillar’s BBBEE objectives.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the BBBEE strategy aligned to the organisation’s and Caterpillar’s strategic plan and ensure communication to all stakeholders.
  • Develop and ensure that performance standards in respect of data for measuring the necessary aspects of BBEEE are communicated and achieved in a sustainable manner.
  • Monitor Pillar Champions performance with regards to BBBEE responsibilities, provide feedback to their respective line managers and initiate corrective action where appropriate.
  • To identify, guide and direct BBBEE compliant Enterprise Development and Socio Economic Development initiatives in accordance with allocated budgets, including where necessary structuring agreements with qualifying beneficiaries, liaising and delivering the agreed strategy for these elements.
  • To identify, develop, guide and oversee the implementation and execution of Skills Development and Employment Equity specific projects to maximise scores under these pillars.
  • To provide assistance and direction to support optimal scoring on Preferential Procurement.
  • Ongoing liaison with key departments including but not limited to: Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Communications to provide insight, training and support and to optimise BBBEE activity in these areas.
  • Produce reports, assessments and information as and when required.
  • Maintain BBBEE information for audit and assessment purposes.
  • Researching, promoting and constantly keeping abreast of leading BBEEE best practices and new developments.
  • Ensure where necessary that BBBEE matters are effectively communicated within the organisation as well as externally.
  • Participate in Employment Equity and Skills Development Committees to ensure inclusion of BBBEE targets and requirements.
  • Collation and assistance with the verification pack for an annual BBBEE assessment
  • Familiarity with new or changing business environments in assigned areas and inform management of the effects of these changes on particular functions.  Keep updated on new developments including governmental policies & programs. 
  • The incumbent may serve as a company-wide resource on a highly specialized area or serve multiple units in a broader functional area and assist senior management in interpreting and using information provided.
  • Understanding the EEIP program managed by government and ensuring Caterpillar is on track in meeting their reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Skills/ Qualifications: 

 

To be considered for this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

Essential:

  • College or university degree in relevant field – or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Strong knowledge of application and reporting of BBBEE codes
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures in relation to HR, supply chain management, people relations, and South Africa governmental policies. 

Desirable:

  • Qualification in BBBEE or deep relevant experience in the subject
  • Experience in implementing complex strategies and maintaining alignment across multiple business divisions
  • Experience in governmental relations
  • Come from a Supplier Development, Human Resources, Procurement background
  • Possess relevant industry experience relatable to Caterpillar
  • Experience aligning BBBEE practices and policy with dealers or partner organizations
  • Strong project management skills
