This position performs hardware asset management for Parts Distribution and Integrated Logistics facilities [part of Caterpillar’s Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD)] throughout North America, Queensland Australia Distribution Center, and our Bangalore, India office.  The position leads a team of 5 that schedule PC deployments, perform break/fix, and build assets for customers – basically managing the PC lifecycle. The position coordinates activities with Site IT Contacts as part of our hub-and-spoke support model. The position inventories, maintains, and utilizes asset information in a purchased software product.


The position will perform the following functions:

  • Train the team and Site IT Contacts to follow documented Logistics Information Services (LIS) Asset Management processes that support the PC hardware lifecycle and validate that processes are being executed consistently
  • Maintain asset management process documentation and assist in setting direction for the team and its processes
  • Perform annual hardware planning, develop budgets, issue spend for IT products, receive products, approve invoices, coordinate disposal pickups
  • Coordinate spend with suppliers, receive quotes, submit special requests, and manage invoicing
  • Track inventory of PCs, devices, accessories, and consumables
  • Process requests from customers for devices and consumables
  • Retrieve assets when customers leave or move
  • Retire assets at end of life
  • Perform maintenance on assets when necessary
  • Process requests from Legal and perform device transfers to other PC support organizations
  • Manage cell phone pool and perform administration and VIP support
  • Administer desk phones and conference room phones
  • Develop build plans to keep the fleet of equipment current and coordinate device replacement
  • Perform audits of devices and inventory
  • Work reports to keep device assignment current – processing leavers, movers, inactive devices, and device status grief – delivering high levels of asset accuracy
  • Purchase software upon request of software asset management team
  • Purchase IT peripherals upon request of supported facilities
  • Perform HP Printer management for Morton and Mossville DD
  • Support the team’s asset management tool – purchased software with SQL DB – and its data

This is an exciting position where the goal is to keep customers productive.  Excellent customer service skills are required. 


The position must be able to:

Develop and execute business plans, multi-task, be responsive to customer requests and follow up,

be excellent at tracking details, be regimented and consistently execute processes, train, communicate, and delegate activities to the team and follow up on progress, manage processes, work cohesively with others, support the purchased asset management application and its SQL DB. 


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job related experience
  • Strong organizational, customer service, communication, and delegation skills
  • Experience developing, executing and training others on processes
  • Previous leadership or project leadership experience
  • Knowledgeable of the appropriate programming languages; computing hardware and software; and current deployment processes and tools
  • 3+ years in integration, infrastructure system administration, or support work

This position does not offer relocation.
This position requires 10% or less travel.
