Job Description


JOB SUMMARY:  The purpose of this position is to provide technical manufacturing support related to the production of Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Manufacturing Specialists report to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and will be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands. Work is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. Work requires possible exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, electrical hazards, tanks, heights, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, dust, etc.  Working hours must be flexible with the ability to work on all shifts and extended hours as required.

Performs duties assigned within the Engineering department including but not limited to:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, CMM reports, csv files, and understand basic GD&T
  • Read and interpret AutoCAD part & tool drawings for required machining processes

  • Read and interpret and maintain manufacturing process sheets
  • Edit CNC programming sequences
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions
  • Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and operate machine tooling and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations
  • Set up, follow and edit standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions

  • Perform the duties of Machine Operator or Team Leader as needed

  • Perform and set-up job and tool changes.

  • Perform process testing to ensure quality control of practices and procedures
  • Assist operations in maintaining machining processes to specifications
  • Assist in machine adjustments and repair
  • Submit and assist with the resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards
  • Maintain a safe and clean workstation
  • All other duties as assigned 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience reading engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, blue prints & training on GD&T
  • Experience with milling machine tooling

  • Experience and/or training in CNC machine programming and editing

  • Experience reading and interpreting CMM reports and csv files
  • Experience with 8-18 liter diesel engines

  • High School Diploma or GED Degree

Additional Qualifications:

  •    1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
This is an full-time hourly position. Starting rate is $15.50 per hour, with medical, dental, vision, 401K and paid time off.
