JOB SUMMARY:  

Research, coordinate, plan and comply with state regulatory requirements in the U.S. for the Caterpillar Insurance Company and insurance affiliates related to rates, forms, other filings, and producer licensing.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  1. Ensures policy forms and rates for programs, as required by each state, are filed and maintained. 
  2. Develops and coordinates relationships with trade associations.
  3. Advanced administration of producer licensing.
  4. Reviews new statutes, regulations and bulletins from various State Insurance Departments.  Review includes regulatory research to implement changes and/or new regulations and to communicate this information to all staff affected.
  5. Responds to state regulators, which involves researching and successfully resolving issues or questions posed.
  6. Assists with interpreting various insurance laws, regulations or changes in instructions, and recommends procedure changes to manager as needed.
  7. Assists in development of policies and procedures for compliance.  Makes recommendations to manager for new processes and changes to current procedures.
  8. May work with State Insurance Departments on regulatory compliance audits (Market Conduct Reviews).  This involves obtaining needed information for the auditors to facilitate in the audit process and acting as a liaison between the State Auditors and Insurance Staff members.
  9. Displays the ability to actively participate in a cross functional team.
  10. Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department.  Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data.  Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them.Understands the Harassment policy of the company and is responsible for its application in all aspects of employment.
  11. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry related to compliance including producer licensing and rate and form filings.
  12. Demonstrated knowledge of and the demonstrated ability to perform multi-state regulatory filings.
  13. Demonstrated knowledge of insurance laws, regulations and procedures.
  14. Demonstrated ability to perform legal research, to understand compliance audit issues, and to assist with final research to resolve issues.
  15. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry related to rates, forms, other filings, and producer licensing.
  16. Demonstrated ability to research and assist in successfully resolving questions posed or issues with state regulators.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND KNOWLEDGE:

1.  Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry related to compliance including producer licensing and rate and form filings.

2.  Demonstrated knowledge of and the demonstrated ability to perform multi-state regulatory filings.

3.  Demonstrated knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply math computation skills including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

4.  Demonstrated knowledge of insurance laws, regulations and procedures.

5.  Ability to use software packages associated with insurance, i.e. regulatory reporting systems, insurance administration system, spreadsheets, graphics, and word processing.

6.  Demonstrated ability to handle regulatory compliance audits.

7.  Demonstrated ability to perform legal research, to understand compliance audit issues, and to assist with final research to resolve issues.

8.  Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply problem-solving and decision-making skills, within the scope of job duties.

9.  Ability to sit, focus on computer screen, and type on keyboard for long periods of time.

10.  Demonstrated ability to apply effective oral, written, and listening communication skills.

11.  Knowledge of and adherence to the Compliance Policy for Caterpillar Insurance Company and insurance affiliates.

12.  Ability to work independently in an organized manner.

13.  Ability to apply time management, organization and planning skills.

14.  Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry related to rates, forms, other filings, and producer licensing.

15.  Demonstrated ability to research and assist in successfully resolving questions posed or issues with state regulators.

16.  Demonstrated ability to research compliance issues.

17.  Ability to foster high quality standards driven by company objectives and a strong motivation of continuous improvement of the Caterpillar Insurance Group.

18.  Ability to remain flexible and assist with the department workload.

19.  Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

2.  Ability to work independently in an organized manner.

4.  Ability to remain flexible and assist with the department workload.

5.  Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

6.  A 4-year college or university degree and a minimum of 2 years exempt experience in insurance compliance is recommended.  Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.

7.  Previous exempt experience must be progressively increasing in responsibility and accountability and demonstrate an ability to gain in knowledge, skills and responsibility such that a level of full competency can be reached. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

A 4-year college or university degree and a minimum of 2 years exempt experience in insurance compliance is recommended.  Previous exempt experience must be progressively increasing in responsibility and accountability and demonstrate an ability to gain in knowledge, skills and responsibility such that a level of full competency can be reached.  Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
