The Integrated Components & Solutions Division currently has an opening for a Automation Engineer - Validation located in our Mossville, IL facility. As an Automation Engineer - Validation, you will be a key contributor in the development, design, system integration, and validation of complex components, subsystems, or processes. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, and deepen your professional network.
In this role you will join our Autonomy & Site Technology system integration & validation team, working on our Command for Hauling solution. The position will be focused on performing validation testing on Command for Hauling (CfH) utilizing surrogate mobile test vehicles equipped with the full onboard autonomy electronics system. The position will focus on developing a deep expertise on the operation of the onboard autonomy system in order to plan and execute system integration tests.
Cat Command for Hauling utilizes a suite of technologies, wireless communications and global positioning to automate select Cat mining trucks. Advanced perception and sensing technologies enable it to work safely and productively alongside manually operated equipment, such as loading tools, cleanup and maintenance machines, and mine site personnel. Select Cat trucks can be ordered from the factory Command Ready or be retro-fitted in the field to take advantage of improvements in operator safety, equipment availability and site productivity..
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Perform system integration & validation testing - develop new test cases from requirements, execute manual testing, and implement test automation capabilities
Communicate results to design teams and clients
Provide technical guidance on needs analysis and initiate ideas
Evaluate and promote new products, processes, or systems
Contribute to the design of new products and processes
Maintain operation capabilities for the CfH surrogate vehicle fleet (5 vehicles)
Develop operation capabilities for new CfH surrogate vehicle fleet (2 planned in 2021)
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum
3+ years of relevant work experience
NTI/NPI experience in one or more of the following areas related to L6 Machine or L8 Site Technology Systems
- System Engineering
- System Integration & Validation
- Application Software Engineering
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering; or Computer Science degree
Advanced degree in Engineering
Experience with dSpace HIL equipment and associated software (ControlDesk, MATLAB, Simulink)
Experience applying technology in construction and/or mining applications
Customer or Industry facing Application Engineer experience
Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
Experience in one or more of the core robotics competencies of AI, positioning, planning, perception, or controls
Proficiency with Linux/Ubuntu
