Job Description



To independently coordinate communications from Corporate to Business Cycle / Process Control Owners including reporting initiatives and updates related to the SOX, Small Entity Checklists, Business Manager Checklists, and the 17 Enterprise Risk Areas including Export Controls and Data Privacy as well as monitor their application through independent testing to ensure each is working effectively and as intended and the business is in compliance and aligned to corporate and local regulation.

  • Coordinate internal controls activities and compliance to government rules and regulations, internal policies and procedures, and provide guidance in Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures
  • Validate adherence to policies and procedures, provide training to facility personnel and leadership if identified as a need, and present financial and non-financial analysis to facility leadership
  • Review and validate relevant data and data sources and utilize data analytics to provide insight into areas of opportunity and potential risk
  • Handle challenging situations involving low, medium, and high risk issues and make decisions and recommendations as appropriate
  • Collaborate across to ensure alignment, understanding, and consistency in the review of the 17 Enterprise Risk Areas and consolidate and report out on each risk
  • Develop, maintain, and test internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and the Small Entity Checklist
  • Enhance Export Controls Environment by
    • Developing and maintaining export control procedures
    • Implement Trade COE SOW process and provide training
    • Maintain and operationalize monthly processes for Engineering Systems audit action plans
    • Support facility risk assessment documentation and determination of inherent risk
    • Implement a restricted party screening process for visitors at all facilities
    • Implement Technology Control Plans at all facilities
  • Support Data Privacy Initiatives and reconcile worldwide documentation of processes and data retention to ensure compliance, providing training where necessary
  • Support IAAS audits and coordinate the follow up on any action items when necessary
  • Interact with multiple functional areas and levels of authority
  • Capable of understanding complex accounting issues such as:  inventory valuation, intercompany transactions, sales and cost of sales reporting, costing methodology, and resolving financial reporting problems

The ICC will demonstrate the ability to stand strong via good communication skills and have an expanded knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers and customers.  Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.  The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.  The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify issues, which may not be obvious. Work is reviewed after completion, except in the most complex or high impact situations. The position works to refine processes or procedures to ensure the best use of resources and technology in meeting a sustainable control structure.


Required Qualifications:

* 4-year business related degree and/or equivalent experience
