Job Description


Caterpillar has exciting opportunities for accountants who want to be challenged, are mobile and are interested in progressing through a number of staff and management assignments. In this position, you will be providing technical expertise on complex business, financial, or managerial issues within a business unit or corporate environment. You will be responsible for managing a team consisting of various levels of management accountants and salaried support positions.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Work with selected financial systems, interpreting and adhering to Caterpillar’s general accounting practices and procedures
* Manage salaried and management personnel who perform accounting functions of varying complexity
* Manage a small team and their related workload, prioritizing projects, assigning and reviewing work, and controlling the daily operating environment
* Evaluate and report on staff performance, participate in employee selections, provide career guidance and training direction, comply with personnel practices, and promote team rewards and successes
* Provides technical guidance and expertise to team
* Motivate team members to work towards individual and team goals and objectives, fostering an environment of teamwork and cooperation
* Communicate effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers
* Understand and manage customer requirements and expectations.· Serve as liaison between customer, team and data providers
* Identify and communicate goals and objectives of team
* Provide services, make recommendations and manage costs
* Perform Complex Staff Work:
* Provide technical guidance and expertise on highly complex accounting issues such as preparing financial results analysis for upper level management, providing forecast data, etc
* Lead initiatives outside team to represent the group, (e.g. documenting processes, making presentations)
* Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers and customers

Required Qualifications:

* 4 year Degree in Accounting or equivalent
* Demonstrated success and progression in previously held accounting positions
* Demonstrated excellence in Leadership, Initiative, English communication, Analytical, Decision Making and Problem Solving skills
* Risk management and Internal controls experience
* Demonstrate the ability to stand strong via good communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

* Professional Certification (Certified Public Accoutant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent)  
* Accounting experience at a large public accounting firm or a Fortune 500 company
* MBA or Masters Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
