Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies is a joint venture between Caterpillar and Trimble focused on developing grade control systems for both aftermarket and factory installation.  The Grade Control Test Engineer is responsible for testing and validation of aftermarket and factory fit Grade Control systems on earthmoving machines such as Track Type Tractors, Motor Graders, and Hydraulic Excavators.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate new Grade Control products and technologies
  • Develop acceptance criteria for Grade Control product performance
  • Develop test procedures for Grade Control systems
  • Execute and document bench tests and on-machine tests for Grade Control products
  • Analyze data and report significant results from testing on Grade Control products
  • Identify, analyze and resolve complex problems on bench setups and earthmoving machines
  • Conduct Grade Control test set-ups and tear-downs on earthmoving machines, including installation of sensors, brackets, displays, wiring
  • Assist with customer support and training for Grade Control products


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or 3+ years working with Grade Control systems or surveying in a professional environment
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience in development or testing of grade control or similar work tool automation systems

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, as well as manual dexterity to work in bench test and earthmoving machine test environments
  • Experience in embedded software or system testing
  • Experience in the field of surveying
  • Experience with electrical systems on a variety of machine types
  • Experience with CAN, RS232, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, GNSS, and / or Cellular communications
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical problems and develop creative solutions
  • Experience with earthmoving equipment

* The location for this position is East Peoria, IL - Proving Ground AA

* This position may require up to 10% travel
