As a Section Manager you will be responsible for supervising the operations of one to five Team Leads and assigned manufacturing areas in close cooperation with more senior members of management.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Determines processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
  • Determines priorities and schedules the sequence of jobs.
  • Determines overtime need, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary.
  • Produces product to meet quality standards while maintaining cost.
  • Ensures necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
  • Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.
  • Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean production environment.
  • Evaluate, assess, and identify training needs of the workforce.
  • Ensures training and effective utilization of work force.
  • Position should have good working knowledge of labor rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or supervision experience
  • 2+ years of experience with CPS (Caterpillar Production System) or other production system model processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience in a bargained facility environment

 


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Must complete the CPS Section Manager functional Curriculum
  • Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
  • MACH 1 and/or SAP experience
  • Material planning experience within MACH 1

This position does not offer relocation

This position requires 10% or less travel.
