Job Description


As a Automation Engineer you will contribute to design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software monitoring systems for platform and applications within Cat Digital.


JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities will cross functional and divisional areas. Individual will be assigned work and projects that support Cat Digital development and enhancement efforts through monitoring WEB, mobile, and Cloud systems. Individual may need to develop solutions that currently do not exist and could require ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking to support/monitor Cat Digital systems. The individual will support off-shift calls and deployments. There may be opportunity for evaluate other monitoring solutions through joint efforts with GIS.    

  •  Competent to perform programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned to more complex aspects of monitoring work

  • Works directly with teams to provide monitoring support for complex application/technical requests.

  • Identifies problems and provides resolutions; including response to off-shift and weekend deployments and support calls.

  • Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.

  • Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits

  • Identifies and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team

  • Communicates with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, inter-operability, and completeness

  • Performs integrated testing of applications that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely and quality results

  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management




Basic qualifications:

 Top candidates will also have:

  • Proven experience in the following,
    • Thought Leadership, Business Acumen, Problem Solving
    • Deploying and maintaining monitoring software and tools
    • Working within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum)
  • Strong understanding and/or experience in the following,
    • Proxies, firewall rules, DNS, GSLB and Citrix
    • Datastores such as Elasticsearch, MySQL, Oracle
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraint
  • Passion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment

 This role is a Full Time Temporary position. We plan a need for this resource for up to two years or as demand for work dictates.
