CAT Longwall is currently building a new Global commercial and project management team in Australia and is looking for the individual that will shape, develop and lead this organization in the long term. The position will ideally be located in Brisbane QLD, or Beresfield NSW Australia and will lead team members, project and contract managers internationally.
As part of creating a new product group in Australia, you have the unique opportunity of shaping the destiny for the new team
Lead the team and govern the profit creation from projects, manage and guide contract management and manage and govern the execution of projects, to deliver the required performance, cost, quality and on time delivery.
A project could be from customer interactions to manufacturing and commissioning, of large multi-million-dollar projects with team members and parties in multiple countries. You will own overall accountability for internal and external project execution with governance on utilization of engineering and manufacturing resources.
JOB DUTIES Include but not limited too:
The head of the Commercial and Project management leads senior project managers and contract managers and must be able to guide the legal reviews as well as management of projects in a complex matrix organization. The team is responsible for leveraging business intelligence on market and competition trends to optimize, with the sales department, the revenue and margins for each project.
Anticipate market trends and customer expectations. The head of commercial and project management provides leadership to project and contract managers that highlight the uniqueness of CAT’s value proposition and support customers clarify expectations and possibilities. He is equally comfortable when interacting with the customers along with the sales teams during the pre-sale phase than supervising the legal review during contract execution of projects worldwide. The position holder will interface with teams located across all time zones and with multi-cultural background. Through their experience, leadership, and ability to influence, they take an active part in driving the organization towards better internal requirements and metrics, anticipation of technological trends and improved delivery of internal and external projects.
The commercial and project management team anticipate contractual risks, work with the central legal services establishing guidance on acceptable risks and appropriate mitigation, drive the implementation of internal research and development (NPI) as well as external customer projects, including the development of master detailed project management schedule, charter, Project Execution Plans and other required project artefacts. The team monitors and makes decision on the determination of resource requirements assuring program dates can be met.
Coming with the accountability on utilization of resources, the commercial and project management team takes an active role in other activities related to the value stream, especially in the S&OP process.
During the project phase, senior project managers are the main direct contact for the customers and dealers into the product line. They are responsible for setting deadlines for each project steps, with the accountability of delivering the project on targets.
The Manager will drive a culture of continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. They will resolve internal issues by assuming ownership of problems, strategizing with affected departments, and selecting and implementing solutions.
The head of commercial and project management is also responsible for the recruiting, and developing a new team, and creating a positive culture, with a can-do team spirit with a focus on constant improvement / continuous leaning.
The position holder is challenged to identify problems quickly and correctly, which may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within company guidelines, from many existing solutions and defines departmental limits.
The Individual will be a great communicator, and very structured, with a proven ability to put in place strong lean governance that drives transparency and effective project management.
Domestic and possibly international travel may be required (less than 50% of working time).
Employees may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as their leadership position requires.
Experience leading projects in multinational and intercultural projects a must
Experience developing and leading international teams needed.
The position requires high technical and application knowledge of the Longwall coal mining environment is highly desired
Experience in long wall mining operations is considered a plus
Familiarity with Caterpillar’s frameworks, practices, and procedures a plus
PMP or PRINCE2 certification or a legal background a plus
