Job Description


Caterpillar has exciting opportunities for accountants who want to be challenged, are mobile and are interested in progressing through a number of staff and supervisory assignments. In a Senior Staff Accounting position, you will provide expertise on complex business analysis, cost financial or managerial issues within a business unit or corporate environment. You will have the opportunity to become one of our future business leaders. You will be in a position to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as high levels of leadership and initiative.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Determining Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for high complexity projects 
* Enterprise analysis for upper level management including division managers, department heads and Vice Presidents

* Lead projects related to OPACC growth strategies for Services 

* Enterprise Component Strategy Support, collaboration with business partners across the enterprise

* Quality of earnings analysis 
* Enterprise coordination and/or governance of costing and/or investment activities 
* Product group and/or operational strategy development & execution 
* Low cost producer analysis 
* Global footprint and sourcing strategy 
* Development of new/alternative costing methodologies, processes, and/or systems 
* Business proposal development and/or review 
* Post Implementation Audit (PIA) completion and/or review


Basic Qualifications:

* 4 year Degree in Accounting or equivalent or 4 year Degree in Business with a minimum of 18 hours accounting coursework 
* 7-10 years of accounting experience 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

* Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent) 
* Accounting experience at a large public accounting firm or a Fortune 500 company 
* 3.0 /4.0 Accounting Grade Point Average (or equivalent) 
* 3.0 / 4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (or equivalent) 
* MBA or Masters Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)

* Demonstrated success and progression in previously held accounting roles 
* Willingness to relocate and be mobile minded 
* Demonstrated excellence in Leadership, Initiative, Communication, Interpersonal, Judgment and Analytical skills.

* Superior communication skillset, including experience with communication to senior leaders

* Ability to work independently with cross-functional teams in multiple locations.

* Previous experience working through business alternatives and applying financial modeling principles that align with enterprise investment methodology with a focus on the preparation of discounted cash flows.

*Knowledge of the Caterpillar organization, its products, policies and procedures
