The Business Segment:

Caterpillar's Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) resides within our Services, Distribution & Digital (SD&D) business segment and includes the design and manufacturing of wear and maintenance component products, as well as support of prime product and parts distribution, inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing functions, and packaging and container management. PSLD has over 13,000 employees in 70+ facilities across 23 countries and has close to 3,000 suppliers. The Aftermarket Parts Distribution team supports Cat Dealers through the Cat Parts Distribution network via the following channels: Dealer Order Support; Demand Planning; Inventory Management; Network Engineering; Receiving, Storage & Shipping Operations; Record Accuracy Management; and Supply Base Engineering. We have approximately 700,000 SKU’s and ensure that, through the global Cat parts network, our dealers can fulfill 98 percent of parts orders within 24 hours.

 

The Opportunity:

Our team is currently looking for a talented individual to fill the role of General Manager, Clayton, OH Operations - Parts Distribution. As a General Manager for Parts Distribution, you will set operational distribution policy for Caterpillar operations. You will have responsibility for leading a group of approximately 600 employees.  You will handle critical activities including attaining maximum production efficiency, inventory, and shipping/receiving functions operating at levels which meet customers’ needs and established financial benchmarks. You will also be responsible for policies and programs, which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability. Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff will be imperative. This position requires a strategic, high-energy individual with both stamina and mental quickness to be able to work and thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing culture. Top candidates will have a robust multi-functional background in operations, logistics, supply chain, distribution, warehouse, and workforce scheduling, forecasting, supply chain metrics, lean process/continuous improvement, and process development and improvement.  Additionally, leader of leaders’ experience for 10+ years, demonstrated experience of driving cultural change and developing others.  Experience in a non-union environment is highly desired. 

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Foster a strong team environment and promote a safe work culture for all employees
  • Deliver quality operational services for Caterpillar Service parts, components, and other products to Caterpillar Dealers and customers. Ensure Dealers view Caterpillar as the best provider of logistics services. Optimize use of parts inventories by maintaining high standards of operations.
  • Lead the delivery of strategies to improve Caterpillar’s strong competitive advantage in the area of parts distribution, including the development of standards for the Caterpillar quality management system
  • Establish budgets and objectives and operate within broad policy guidelines
  • Lead in the execution of innovation with our Caterpillar logistics systems including automation
  • Utilize information and technology impacting distribution to increase innovation and ensure continual improvement throughout the Operations.
  • Establish policies and set standards of performance to improve the operating profitability and service to Dealers and Customers


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a wide variety of distribution management, inventory management, operations, and planning positions
  • Minimum of 8 years of plant/operations management experience
  • University degree in business related subjects
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a leader managing large and diverse teams

 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Proven success managing large employee groups of over 500 staff
  • Proven ability to motivate leaders and employees and hands-on leadership style
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with all levels of company and outside management
  • Excellent communications and human relations skills with the ability to influence, interface and gain credibility across different levels in the organization
  • APICS Certification or similar Training
  • Experience leading and managing direct reports including demonstrated success in coaching, driving results, delivering performance feedback, and motivating a team
  • Proven results in identifying and implementing improvement initiatives
  • Ability to understand and be able to interpret and analyze financial and operating statements
