The Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a new Test team in Seguin, Texas.  As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Caterpillar, you will lead a cross-functional team that will be responsible for the end-to-end engine test processes and equipment within our Seguin manufacturing facility. Your team will be improving the current test processes as well as establishing long-term test strategies for new product, to ensure the highest quality engine and customer satisfaction.

 
 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 
  • Supervises Manufacturing Engineering and Support functions for current engine test processes, new process justification and implementation, machines, equipment, tooling, standard work, gage planning and technical troubleshooting to provide the most efficient and economical test and assembly of quality products.

  • Develop test team personnel by providing training, growth and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing test processes and equipment. Ensure concurrent product and test designs meet requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process. Provide technical input to the development and review of test projects and challenge content of project proposals for relevancy and value ahead of advancing through sign lines.

  • Work closely with design engineering, quality, maintenance and operations to improve engine test equipment capability in order to meet product group and customer engine performance expectations.

  • Lead and manage new product programs, including coordination of test plan development and deployment within facility to ensure customer satisfaction while achieving functional and cost targets.

  • The position often confronts complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require innovative approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions.

  • The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control, to ensure specific organizational goals are met, and desired results are achieved.

  • The position impacts key quality goals, including Continuous Improvement, Delivery Timeliness, Equipment Accuracy, Operational Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Capability, Part Quality, ISO Certification, etc.

  • Responsible for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of team.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Relevant equivalent 8+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of formal or informal leadership experience  


Top Candidates Qualifications: 
  • Experience and expertise working in a testing or manufacturing environment including engine dynamometer tests, development, and engine component assembly

  • Thorough knowledge of problem solving methodologies
  • Experience implementing equipment or technology in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading projects or teams across multiple diverse teams
