The Industrial Powers Systems Division currently has an opening for a Test and Validation Engineer for Large Engine Assembly in Seguin TX.  As an experienced Test and Validation Engineer at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems.   Caterpillar's Test and Validation Engineer position works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in product manufacturing.                                                        

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 
  • Analyze requirements and make recommendations for equipment needs and engineering product design in relation to engine performance

  • Complete both specialized and broad-based projects which will require collaboration with other functions 

  • Apply statistical analysis to determine allowable acceptance criteria for process indicators

  • Provide specifications, and procure new or replacement testing and validation equipment

  • Perform capital forecasting and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, product capacity increases, machine replacement and continuous improvement activities

  • Analyze engine characteristics and trend data to meet customer expectations

  • Support simultaneous engineering efforts by reviewing conceptual designs and making recommendations

  • Lead continuous improvement activities impacting the assembly process and test performance

  • Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, or the manufacturing process


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Four-year University or Technical school degree in a manufacturing engineering-related discipline 

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering or related experience 

  • Project management leadership and project work

 

Top Candidates will also have the following:

 

  • Experience working in a testing or manufacturing environment including engine dynamometer tests, development, and engine component assembly

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling (i.e., AutoCAD, Creo, Solidworks)

  • Understanding of diesel engine assembly and process development

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with safety protocols and risk assessment
