This includes key engine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment, and cooling which are used to power oil and gas electric power, marine, rail, and Cat machine applications around the globe.


LPSD currently has an opening for a Facilities Engineering Manager located in Pontiac, Illinois. When you join team Caterpillar as a Facilities Engineering Manager, you will be expected to provide stable operation of manufacturing equipment, utilities and services for a facility that produces prime product and/or components. You will manage groups of staff, directly or via subordinate supervisors, that are responsible for equipment maintenance, manufacturing of tooling and fixtures, facility utilities maintenance, equipment and machinery installation, site construction and civil infrastructure support, subcontractor management, compliance to environmental and operational regulations, standards, and legislation, and manufacturing engineering support.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direction to facility engineering support, which includes the design, purchase, and installation of new building and equipment in addition to renovation of existing facilities and equipment.
  • Responsibility for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of team.
  • Confront complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis and can require original approaches and solutions.
  • Provide leadership to reduce/manage facility waste and by-product materials management (reduce water, electrical/gas and landfill usage)
  • Manage contract services for maintenance, housekeeping, facility security, landscaping and salvage/waste removal from the property.
  • A subject matter expert for any mechanical/electrical engineering issue for the maintenance group.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Manufacturing, Engineering, and/or related field 
  • 8+ years' of job related experience (preferred Plant/Facility Engineer/Manager)
  • 3+ years' of Supervisory role  

 Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Creo
  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders and lead change
  • Prior leadership experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the areas Maintenance, Quality, and Distribution.
  • Good understanding of machine tools with hands on experience
  • Project management skills / experience
  • High degree of experience and expertise in facilities engineering, manufacturing equipment such as heat treat equipment, material handling systems, filtration systems, utilities for water, gas, steam, air, heating, ventilation, etc.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, Primavera
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers.
  • Understanding of shop operations and maintenance procedures as well as previous experience in a particular discipline.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
