We currently have an opening for a Field Service Representative in Marathon, Ontario, Canada. This position serves as a company technical representative dealing with customer service including on-site preventive and corrective maintenance and inspection service work, call-out services and commissioning activities on Caterpillar surface/underground mining machines and support equipment. The primary responsibilities of this role are:

 

  • Perform equipment maintenance tasks (planned, preventive, corrective) and/or troubleshooting in surface or underground mine environments following all required safety measurements,

  • Proactively recognize electrical/mechanical/hydraulic abnormalities and potential safety problems. Take appropriate action to prevent hazards and damage to equipment.

  • Interface with mine planners. Provide daily reports to project manager regarding daily and future planned work.Monitor parts and tools as well as service/time/personnel requirements for pending work to ensure they are on hand when required.

  • Timely work order management to ensure equipment health data is current.

  • Will have strong product knowledge to repair/adjust minor mechanical/electrical/hydraulic components/systems

  • Utilize sound judgment when analyzing problems. Must be able to prioritize work in a fast-paced customer production environment with competing priorities.

  • Understands and complies with all HSES policies and procedures.

  • Willing to work flexible hours as required for 24/7 surface/underground mine production environment.

  • Obtain and hold training/certifications as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a surface and underground mining environment is essential. 
  • The candidate will have a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent period of training, Certified HD Heavy Duty Equipment Technician with at least 5 years of experience, preferably with CAT machines.
  • Advanced knowledge of methods and experience in the diagnosis and maintenance of heavy-duty diesel mobile equipment including various types of Caterpillar equipment used in the mining and construction industry is required.
  • Norcat certification is preferred.
