Position Description

As a Service Technical Representative, you will consult with dealers and product groups on product problem management within an assigned territory or customer. Representing Caterpillar Resource Industry Division to minimize the commercial impact of customer complaints related to products, applications, and maintenance requirements, you will have a direct bottom line impact on Caterpillar and dealer financial results. This is generally the second level technical service assignment and represents a shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing in assignments that are broader, more complex and challenging in nature.

 


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


You will be responsible for developing and executing support plans, as well as working with the respective product groups to assist in resolving product or performance issues.


Working closely with the dealers and product groups, you will ensure customers are satisfied with the performance of their mining products.



You will be responsible for administrating company policy warranty settlements and will work with service specialists to ensure dealers have technical capability to identify and repair product deficiencies.  Works with dealers in managing Product Improvement Programs cost effectively and within designated timeframes.  Provide technical guidance and assist with dealer presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages.  Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of actions, making timely decisions and developing greater communication skills.

 


Partner with the Dealer representatives to bring Caterpillar, dealer and customer resources together to improve the value and performance of CAT’s mining product operations at site. 



  • Gain agreement with the site on the KPI’s and report out on a regular basis at the site governance meeting
  • Facilitate governance meetings with site and the appropriate cadence to review the Plan and KPI’s
  • Benchmark as appropriate to help the site understand any performance gaps
  • Ensue the customers top issues are properly communicated within the region and Product Groups.
  • Accountable for representing Caterpillar and Cat assigned actions

To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications):



















Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing or Engineering degree preferred).

  • Requires 5 to 8 years prior experience in field assignments. Visiting projects and sites, meeting with customers, managers, technicians.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, communicate effectively with others in the work group, dealer personnel and customers.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time
