Now is a great time to join us! Our team is currently looking for a talented individual to fill the role of Director, Packaging and Container Management (internally titled General Manager). In this role you will provide strategic and overall business leadership to the Global Engineered Packaging Solutions organization. This is a senior level position in the Logistics business that provides strategic direction and leadership to deployment of a global distribution network. Team members are located throughout Asia and North America.

 

Position Summary:


The Director, Packaging and Container Management will lead connecting strategies across Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing & Warehouse Operations and Network Design. This role is accountable for driving the development of system solutions supporting delivery of scale-based services across the network which offer best-in-class performance and cost efficiency. A key focus in this role will be growing our India Packaging Development Engineering Center, a Center of Excellence for the Enterprise. It also ensures a well-developed program management discipline ensuring projects are robustly planned and rapidly deployed. 

 

This person will act as a role model, mentor and change agent for our organization, helping to keep progressing our information capabilities in an ever-changing business climate. Reporting directly roles include: Global Packaging Managers, Packing & Process Control Managers, and Packaging Engineers. 


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Alignment of the network with the requirements of the markets served by the product groups and business units. Key areas addressed include OPACC value creation, network performance and cost efficiency in executing the services offered to the Caterpillar business verticals.
  • Relationship engagement will occur at the Product Manager, Facility Manager and Vice President level across all Caterpillar businesses.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing facilities in various business units.
  • Lead in development and execution of departmental governance processes including metrics and scorecards in conjunction with Business Resources.
  • Collaborate with the analytical organization based in India providing low cost support to the rest of the organization.
  • Align support of business unit needs and ensuring satisfaction in the execution of the delivery. This work includes ensuring common goal agreements are established and performance standards are met including financial targets.
  • Provide direction, focus, motivation, and encouragement for team members and is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of employees.
  • Performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible job related experience.
  • Experience leading global teams, particularly in Asia Pacific and North America.
  • Deep understanding of Logistics including Operations, Inventory Management, Transportation and 3PL/4PL Service offerings and associated costs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
  • The position is required to travel frequently.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience in inventory management and parts distribution
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experiences that include customer / client relationship management, product development or managing large scale projects.
