Job Description


Information Technology Interns at Caterpillar perform the same challenging work assignments as our new full-time hires. We work with our teams to ensure that every intern gains the appropriate professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment.  This position is a great way to gain hands on experience by supporting the IT operations at a world-leading manufacturing company. Summer 2021 interns will work 40 hours a week from May 17, 2021 to August 6, 2021.  


Caterpillar’s Parallel Computing internship is with the team that manages the company’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster. The primary project this intern will contribute to is the development of  real time metrics for monitoring cluster health and usage. As the intern gains familiarity with the details of HPC operations, there may be opportunities for additional project assignments.

*Must be enrolled full time at a 4-year accredited university/college in an IT related degree program or sequence

*Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 2.8 (no rounding)

*Expected graduation date December 2021 and beyond.

*Must be able to relocate to Peoria, IL area or indicated work location for duration of internship, and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.



Desired Qualifications:

*Previous internship in Information Technology

*Proficiency in Power Bi, Tableau, MS Forms, Web Content development, Linux, Database coding   

*Interest in HPC

*Customer focused

*Effective time management skills

*Strong verbal and written communication skills

*Able to work independently or as a collaborative team member

*Ability to learn and comply with company policies and procedures
