To develop and support the system solution functionality required as part of IT applications and transformations.  

JOB DUTIES:
1.) Validate business requirements for multiple process workstreams. 
2.) Validate solution design, including proto-typing and configuration for multiple process workstreams.
3.) Validate process documentation as part of the template solution for multiple process workstreams.
4.) Review and approve test plans as required by new content releases or deployments for multiple process workstreams.
5.) Review and approve end user training materials for multiple process workstreams.
6.) Provide level 4 case management support for business process related issues.

The Senior Business Process Consultant role acts a Subject Matter Expert and trusted advisor for multiple process workstreams.  Activities include, but are not limited to:  1.) participating in workshops with Process Partners to validate and clarify business requirements for the Mach1 solution,  2.) reviewing and validating solution design, prototypes, configuration, and documentation,  3.) mentoring business process analysts and business process consultants,  and 4.) managing “level 4” case management support issues with IT Suppliers for root cause analysis and resolution.

Beyond the completion of their own work, this position will assign and review the day-to-day work of other employees.  Incumbent will provide information for performance evaluations but is not solely responsible for personnel issues.

The incumbent’s primary customers are internal.  He/she supports a major administrative group that includes two or more Departments.  The incumbent supports Caterpillar as a whole including all subsidiaries.  This position works with a long-term perspective in addressing the customer's problems.  Incumbent may trade off immediate costs for the sake of the long-term relationship.  It looks for long-term benefits to the customer.  The incumbent may initiate actions that create visible success for a customer and then credit the customer with that success.

This position influences strategic business decisions.  Incumbent also must understand and take the initiative with problems or situations that are unique or may significantly affect business results.  This includes building and improving contacts to establish new and substantial business relationships.

The incumbent is free to consider issues or courses of action within general Caterpillar policies, principles and longer-term goals.  He/she must think about what programs and projects to address within a major functional area to reach Caterpillar's goals.

This position identifies useful relationships among complex data from unrelated areas.  Incumbent develops new models or theories that explain complex situations or problems and reconciles pieces of information that seem to contradict each other.  Problems and issues are usually ones that no one has previously addressed, either inside or outside Caterpillar.  A combination of inventiveness, experimentation and intuition is needed to develop new cutting-edge solutions.  Situations are unstructured and require original approaches to problems and challenges.  The incumbent may modify existing approaches and come up with unique solutions.  He/she regularly faces diverse situations that require analytical, interpretive or constructive thinking.

Incumbent develops well-prepared action plans for the next two years and has a clear sense of what needs to be achieved in the next three to five years.  Time spent looking beyond five years in the future will generally not improve job effectiveness.
The incumbent decides priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it to achieve a broadly defined assignment.  Alone or with a team, he/she develops procedures or systems to accomplish the desired outcome.  Relevant policies and general performance standards must be considered as well as possible effects on internal or external customers.

Frequent travel required (<10%).

Qualifications

Interpersonal skills are absolutely critical to this job to achieve desired outcomes.  Success in the job depends on the ability to motivate others.  This job may require the incumbent to lead negotiations on controversial issues or in an adversarial setting, or to persuade groups of people to accept change.  

Required Experience 
- 10+ years of collective experience in SAP support, enhancement or infrastructure with special emphasis in areas of ERP, Sales & Distribution, Configure, Price, Quote, Order and Invoice. 
- 5+ years in a business analyst or technical leadership role. 
- Practical experience in SAP ECC 6.0 solution design, delivery and testing.
- Experience coordinating efforts with development teams to translate business requirements and capture necessary test criteria within committed timeframes.

Preferred Experience 
- Working with large international product groups to gather requirements and translate into cost effective SAP/IT solutions.  
- Involvement with complex SAP solutions leveraging BAPI, BADI, REST, SOAP, SAML, JSON or IDoc technologies.
- Experience with NetWeaver, S4/HANA, SAP Cloud Platform and SAP Commerce Cloud.
