Job Description


As a self-motivated project leader, you will work directly with external and internal customers to ensure all deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget.  You will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible to fulfill client needs. We are looking for a dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative culture. The job requires some overtime hours, especially around key milestone deadlines. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in meetings with internal and external customers to take detailed briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
  • Delegate and co-ordinate project tasks to all internal departments

  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long term goals and actions

  • Developing project management schedules for any phase, segment or type of project related to updates, contacting areas to discuss progress and updating schedules accordingly.

  • Regular Scheduling updates to reflect detailed information related to the changes, including components affected, timelines for various stages of project completion, costs, etc.

  • Discussing problems with affected areas, ensuring appropriate personnel are informed of problems and steps are in place so specified schedules are met

  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members

  • Use and continually develop leadership skills to ensure all key deliverables (quality, time, cost) of the project are met.



Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven project management skills
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • Knowledge/understanding of assembly techniques, manufacturing processes, engineering systems and procedures

  • A university degree or equivalent experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Project

  • Several years progressively responsible job-related experience

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, be self-reliant, and maintain good technical knowledge

  • Must demonstrate leadership in cross-functional team environments and possess in-depth knowledge of product and facility policies and procedures

Desired Qualifications:

  • General understanding of the Caterpillar organization, products, policies, and procedures

Project Lead – The successful person will be placed with a recruitment agency for 12+ plus months and placed at Caterpillar to work on an exciting new project – this is not a permanent on-going Caterpillar position.
