About the position:

The Melbourne Distribution Centre (MDC) currently has an opportunity for an analytical and passionate Data Analyst to join our Tullamarine Parts Distribution facility. This role reports to the Logistics Centre Manager and is critical to the organisation’s success and future growth in servicing all dealers within Australia. This is a stand-alone role with peers located in Queensland, Asia Pacific and the US.


Position Details

As a data loving analyst, you will have full responsibility of the role, providing you with creative license to make this role your own. You will be responsible for taking data from multiple sources and turning it into meaningful reports and communicating this throughout the distribution centre. You will have the autonomy to take control for the life cycle of each project contributing to meaningful change across the Melbourne Distribution Centre.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and maintenance of various reports, metrics, tools and operational dashboards.
  • Track facility metrics and KPIs using Excel, PowerBI and Tableau platforms.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to make system and database improvements while also working with the operations team to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Communicate findings across all levels of the organisation, including mentoring in small groups, one or ones or presenting to a wide audience.
  • Complete efficiency reporting and evaluate stop to fix barriers.

  • Produce waste and gap analysis with improvement recommendations.

  • Provide manpower planning requirements through analysis of business forecasts.

  • Provide Root Cause Corrective Action / Kaizen events support within process area.






Suitable candidates will possess the following skills and qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business analytics/ data science or proven work-related experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening skills
  • Prior experience supporting the analytics and /or data interpretation of metrics/KPIs
  • Superior ability to gather, evaluate and analyse data
  • Knowledge of Business Objects, advanced Excel, PowerBI and Tableau (creation of SharePoint)
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones
  • Must be a self-starter
