Job Description



Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) product teams deliver world class products across commercial and machine markets that bring the best value to our customers while achieving business commitments.  We are currently looking for an Environmental, Health and/or Safety Associate.  In this role, you will serve as an individual contributor on Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) projects and assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar facility performance and compliance.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Learn and understand applicable EHS regulations and their impact to the facility

  • Learn and understand applicable organization EHS standards and assist in facility conformance to those standards.

  • Perform inspections and tests to verify compliance.

  • Identify existing and potential EHS problems.

  • Participate in developing corrective measures.

  • Develop procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations and organization standards.

  • Develop management systems for EHS functions

  • Perform EHS audits

  • Perform EHS training

  • Assist in reports for submission to OSHA

  • Monitor EHS performance and assist in developing solutions.

  • Review new safety products, equipment, and processes for potential risks and help to recommend modifications before introduction. 

  • Collaborate with employees and supervisors to identify and mitigate EHS risks.

  • Use readily ava readily available clear and direct references and provide straightforward solutions to problems. 

  • Collects and evaluated data and develops plans for assignments.

  • May expect to have direct contact with other team members and suppliers



Basic Qualifications:

  • An Associate's degree in an appropriate scientific discipline and/or 2+years equivalent EHS experience.   

 Top Candidates will also have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong technical leadership skills with attention to detail a critical component
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to engage and motive others

Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is in Mapleton, IL
  • Relocation assistance is available for this position
  • This position may require 10% travel
