As Inventory Analyst, analyze engineering release and change notices, determine serviceability, create master records, amend master record, determine anticipated demand, and place initial stocking requirements in the new release period. And address / resolve / provide alternate solution for dealer queries.
Working all notices released for new/updated models prior to target date provided by the Product Specialist. This includes analyzing engineering notices, setting up new parts, issuing cancellations, submitting changes to Numerical Parts Record (NPR) and spending a majority of time analyzing new engineering releases and changes to determine which parts will be serviced and distributed worldwide and using the various systems available to gather needed information and enter the results into the Logistics Division master record to generate purchase orders and other activities related to parts support. This activity requires independent judgment based on experience.
Determines the repairable parts (serviceability) and generates the records (NPR, Model Index, Master Records) to provide worldwide stocking to support Caterpillar product in the first two years of product life. (The inventory resulting from these decisions ranges from 3 to 5 million dollars per analyst) Works closely with Product Specialists and Product Business Units in relation to New Product Introduction and with the Logistics Division to relay product service strategy and obtain supplier information to provide the latest information to Publications for the creation of Parts Books.
Responsible for interpreting and acting on engineering changes for correct replacement parts in the appropriate applications to ensure the Corporate New Product Introduction parts support targets are achieved while balancing
Corporate investment. The Division as a whole encounters over 180,000 engineering change notices per year.
Receives phone calls and emails related to new and current parts information and must make informed decisions on action to be taken. These requests require thinking logically and creatively to resolve many complex issues that will impact quality of service and customer satisfaction.
Typical internal customers include various contacts in a portion of Caterpillar worldwide operations. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, ISO 9000 Certification, finding the business balance between availability vs. months of supply, new systems introduction of PARS, PASS, UAT (User Acceptance Testing), 6 Sigma, etc.
1. Bachelors degree in Engineering / Maths / Science / Commerce
2. Years of experience 0-3 years
3. Domain experience in Supply Chain/Order fulfilment/Procurement
4. Good oral and written communication
