Description

The Operational Technology (OT) Security Engineer is responsible for providing thought leadership associated to Caterpillar’s increasing OT footprint, with a focus on securing industrial control and automations systems. The OT Security Engineer will develop, socialize, and drive the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives related to Caterpillar’s OT assets.  The OT Security Engineer will also partner with Caterpillar’s manufacturing and facility teams throughout the world. Strong technical expertise along with up-to-date understanding of information security industry trends are foundational skills required by the OT Security Engineer.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Provide OT security expertise and leadership in defining and prioritizing OT Security Program initiatives
Integrate the OT Security Program into the relevant stages of the product development lifecycle
Perform design and architecture reviews, validating that information security artifacts are created and align with industry standards and regulations. 
Assist with OT remediation and mitigation activities
Report on metrics to the OT security steering committee and other business unit stakeholders
Maintain current knowledge on existing security procedures, directives and technology controls including application testing, threat modeling, attack and penetration testing, data classification and data handling
Participate in industry working groups and provide insights to manufacturing and facility teams on leading architecture, design, and security practices
Interact with business partners to gain an understanding of the business environment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Computer Science or a related field

Experience with various vendors and types of ICS and SCADA equipment, including PLC’s, DCS’s, BMS’s and HMI’s

Knowledge of common IT (i.e. DNS, DHCP, HTTPS, etc.) and OT protocols (Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, BACnet, Profinet, OPC, etc.)

Ab

ility to design, implement, and troubleshoot industrial networks. 

Experience with the underlying principles of networking, infrastructure and system integration

Experience with relevant industry standards, such as:

             ISO 27001, 27002

             NIST CSF

             NIST 800-82

             ISA 62443

             SOC Reporting

Experience with a wide variety of information cybersecurity processes and principles, such as:

             Enterprise security architecture

             Embedded systems security

             Threat model development

             Vulnerability assessment

             Risk analysis

             Defense in depth

             SDLC and product development processes

             Identity and access management

             Networking concepts (routing, design, TCP/IP)

             Business process design

             Web services security


Desired Qualifications


8+ years work experience in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and system integration, with a strong focus on design and implementation of ICS and SCADA systems.

5+ years of related experience with design or administration of factory manufacturing systems.

5+ years of related experience focused in Factory Networking.

Experience successfully interacting and working with customers at multiple levels of responsibility in a manufacturing or production environment.

Professional information security certification (CISSP, GISCP, GRID, GPEN, etc)

Excellent written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate highly technical security concepts to non-security audiences

Strong understanding and experience with information security technologies

Ability to adjust to multiple demands, changing priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change, while multitasking effectively

Ability to coordinate multiple teams in accomplishing process review and improvement 

Demonstrated ability in project management and change management

Demonstrated ability to develop metrics, perform critical analysis and develop executive decision support content


This is a remote work opportunity. The hiring manager sits in East Peoria, IL but the employee can work anywhere within a U.S time zone.
