As a Tax Analyst in the US Reporting and Analysis group, you will be responsible for aspects of the U.S Consolidated Federal Income Tax return and state income and franchise tax returns for Caterpillar Inc. and its subsidiaries. This position is part of a team that performs compliance and provision activities, provides analysis to the Planning and Technical group, and provides support for the IRS and state income tax audits.


This Peoria or Deerfield, IL based position will prepare entities or computations for U.S. Federal, International and State income tax compliance, including pro-form Federal Form 1120’s, consolidated tax return calculations, Subpart F, GILTI, information reporting for non-US entities on Form 5471’s, and state income and franchise tax returns.


This position will participate with the team on projects related to the implementation of new tax regulations and process improvements.  The role will combine technical and business knowledge to complete a high-quality work product, document compliance positions and implement the appropriate controls and analysis.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Tax Compliance Management & Review: Prepares US International, Federal and State tax returns and computations. Liaises with technical specialists to ensure appropriate preparation and review on technical or higher risk areas.

* Tax Planning Support & Special Projects:  Analyzes and interprets proposed changes to US and/or non-US tax legislations and regulations with regard to the impact on compliance requirements, requiring in-depth experience, knowledge and judgment.  Applies tax research results to optimize enterprise tax effects.  Participates on process improvement projects. Participates on teams within or outside of the US Reporting and Analysis group on Global Tax initiatives.
* IRS & State Audit Support: Provides analysis for US tax audits, frequently working with examiners and authorities to resolve tax disputes.  Develops responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's level degree related to Accounting or an approved certification (CPA/CMA)

* 2-4 years of progressively responsible tax or accounting experience at Big 4 public accounting firm and/or large multinational manufacturing organization



Desired Qualifications:

* Tax compliance experience in U.S. federal, international and/or state income tax compliance

* Experience with tax processes/systems/software (CorpTax, SAP BPC, Excel)

* Demonstrate high levels of initiative, good judgment, and superior communication skills

* Collaborative and team-oriented personality with the ability to build and foster relationships throughout the organization
* Understanding of accounting and business processes, and enterprise operations
