Description

As a Senior Engineer - Test/Validation at Caterpillar, in this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Plan, lead the execution, troubleshoot and complete complex component and sub system level Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Validation testing according to CAT internal quality and external international standards including ISO 13766 and EN13309
  • Provide the test data and analysis support and clearly communicate significant results, conclusions and recommendations both verbally and written to internal CAT design teams
  • Responsible for working with component design teams to ensure all the certification tests are performed and test data analyzed and that the EMC emissions and immunity performance meets CAT internal and international standard requirements 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
  • 5 years of Electromagnetic Compatibility testing (Immunity and Emissions) of electrical components and electrical systems of large equipment in the construction/mining equipment, automotive or aerospace industries
  • 2 years operating & troubleshooting of the following Electromagnetic Compatibility testing equipment: amplifiers, signal generators, antennas, electrostatic discharge probes, & bulk current injection clamps
  • 1 year exp with circuit board level design or testing of electrical components used in construction and construction equipment (or similar systems in automotive or aerospace industries)
  • 3 years concurrent project management and technical report writing experience
  • 2 years experience with Electromagnetic Compatibility international standards such as ISO 13766, EN 13309, DO-160G, MIL 461/704, or similar

In lieu of the above, would accept:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
  • 3 years of Electromagnetic Compatibility testing (Immunity and Emissions) of electrical components and electrical systems of large equipment in the construction/mining equipment, automotive or aerospace industries
  • 2 years operating & troubleshooting of the following Electromagnetic Compatibility testing equipment: amplifiers, signal generators, antennas, electrostatic discharge probes, & bulk current injection clamps
  • 1 year exp with circuit board level design or testing of electrical components used in construction and construction equipment (or similar systems in automotive or aerospace industries)
