Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel, gas and reman, ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, and the key engine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment and cooling which are used to power oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine applications around the world.

The Large Power Systems Division has a Supply Chain Engineered Value Chain Manager position located at either Griffin,GA or Lafayette, IN facility. In this role, you will be responsible for leading Supply Chain Engineered Value Chain initiatives for Large Engines within LPSD.  Leads Supply Chain analytics efforts and projects to improve facility performance levels for reduced lead times, inventory reduction, increased inventory turns and improved order-to-delivery results.  Actively supports facility efforts to develop and implement the Plan for Every Part, Pull material Replenishment and improved throughput efficiency. Leads facility efforts to implement and monitor compliance for supply chain processes aligned with the CPS Supply Chain Process Manual and the CPS Supply Chain Rules.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Leads the Supply Chain Engineered Value Chain team for the division.
  • Accountable to facility leadership and governing committees to achieve supply chain performance targets focused on reduced lead time, inventory reduction, increased inventory turns and improved order-to-delivery results.
  • This position plays a key role developing business division strategy development and target setting.
  • Incumbent works closely with the facility Supply Chain Manager to deploy strategic supply chain initiatives, and is required to take a division-wide view of supply chain planning processes and tools. This role requires thorough knowledge and experience with the deployment of pull material strategies and related software applications.
  • This role leads efforts which require the ability to work effectively with facility leaders and governing committees comprised of diverse, multi-functional leaders. Incumbent is responsible for leading collaboration and communications across multiple facility functions, in order to effectively deploy lean material flow plans for a facility, which may include implementing changes to factor floor layout and material presentation to the point of use.
  • This position requires advanced collaboration, communication and negotiation skills, as well as advanced business acumen to sponsor, govern and support supply chain initiatives and deployments. These efforts required intense collaboration with Product Groups, Business Resources, Global Purchasing and other teams.
  • This role requires advanced understanding of supply chain best practices, including operational efficiencies from the source of supply to the facility point of use. This role will involve collaborating and negotiating with leaders across multiple functions, and may include leading personnel from outside incumbent's business division, such as Global Purchasing, Global Information Services, Manufacturing / Operations, Global Transportation and Manufacturing Logistics.
  • This position leads efforts to identify and resolve facility supply chain constraints, which requires the ability to work across cross-functional areas and collaborate and negotiate complex solutions.
  • Incumbent drives communications, root cause corrective action and ultimate resolution of supply chain constraints.
  • This position works with other supply chain functional areas to continuously improve material flow plans, focusing on improving inventory record accuracy, waste reduction and increased throughput efficiency, increased velocity and increased inventory turns. Incumbent may be required to work with Global Transportation and Cat Logistics Services to implement transportation and logistics solutions required to optimize the facility supply chain.
  • Incumbent provides leadership, coaching, focus, motivation and encouragement to direct reports. Responsible for coaching, developing and mentoring resources. Incumbent is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning.
  • Travel Required (10% - 20% working time)


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years' of progressively responsible supply chain job or equivalent experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Advanced knowledge of CPS and lean supply chain principles, specifically those applied to pull replenishment using material replenishment tools and processes, material flow, packaging and containerization, the corporate NPI process, facility product and engineering change control processes and throughput efficiency
  • Advanced understanding of supply chain planning processes and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of supply chain modeling, optimization and simulation software.
  • Advanced understanding of common supply chain systems, and the ability to lead and

    sponsor large-scale technology transformations.

  • Knowledge of 6Sigma Project Management principles.
  • Excellent leadership skills to effectively sponsor supply chain improvements making the

    best use of available resources, while maintaining strong people focus and fulfilling the

    responsibilities for leading people.

  • Extremely strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to drive

    common supply chain processes across multiple departments and facility.

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve very

    complex problems.

  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and solid product


  • Completion of required corporate leadership training
  • Previous leadership experience
  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired.
  • Experience with the CPS RIW and Value Stream Transformation process
  • Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain processes
  • A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management and/or Logistics experience
