Construction Digital and Technology team provides site-level leadership for
Autonomy roadmap and program execution within the Construction Industries
segment. Construction Digital and Technology is taking accountability to
define Market Requirements, manage New Product Introduction Program execution,
own site-level technical product development facilitate customer site integration and
provide ongoing maintenance & support.
This team will work with Construction Industries and Resource Industries
segments’ machine product groups as well as internal and external development
partners to deliver autonomy at the customer site level.
In this leadership role,
the Construction Industries Site Automation and Autonomy Technical Manager
will lead the development and maintenance of the site-level Automation and
Autonomy products for Construction Industries. Specifically, the incumbent
in this role will be accountable to:
- Providing overall
technical product leadership across Caterpillar Construction Industries on site
level autonomous systems.
- As the team expands, this individual will lead
a team of Site System engineers reporting directly to this position.
- Concept design, product development, support solution
delivery and ongoing site-level maintenance for Automation and Autonomy
products aligned with New Product Introduction program cadence established by
Construction Industries site-level Automation and Autonomy New Product
- Owning, defining and managing
technical and product requirements for site-level Automation and Autonomy
- The verification of site-level
Automation and Autonomy system to ensure customer needs are met before production
- Hands-on leadership for a team
of Automation and Autonomy engineers who bring together a cross-enterprise
agile team focused to deliver targeted Automation and Autonomy solution(s)
as part of New Product Introduction program(s)
- Product development and
maintenance throughout the product life-cycle including New Product
Introduction program technical execution and delivery, site-level
simulation and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop)/SIL (Software-in-the-Loop)
verification, product validation, releasing and design control of
products, manufacturing support, Continuous Product Improvement, and
product maintenance and life-cycle support.
- Ensuring technical execution
and delivery of projects and New Product Introduction programs based on
timelines, budgets, quality targets, functional requirements, alignment
with regulatory requirements, and performance expectations
- Representing the technical
Product and Platform work stream within the New Product Introduction Team
- Applying good business acumen
to make trade-offs between customer requirements, business constraints,
and technology capabilities.
- Defining and managing
site-level Automation and Autonomy product technical strategy based on
commercial strategies, application knowledge, industry trends, technology
megatrends, and machine), sub-system, and component strategies.
- Actively pursuing alignment,
commonality, and re-use of Automation and Autonomy components,
sub-systems, and systems between Construction Industries and Resource
- Managing annual budgets and
program life-time forecasts related to product development and New
Technology Introduction Programs.
- Fostering global team collaboration,
communication, and innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree
from an accredited college or university in an accredited Engineering or
Computer Science curriculum.
- At least 15 years’
experience relevant to this role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead product
development through large matrix organization.

utilizing complex and new technologies.
