JOB PURPOSE:

Seeking a Diesel Engine Aftertreatment (AT) Specialist to lead a cross-functional, high performing team to develop products that make our world cleaner by meeting new and existing emissions regulations.  You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.  You will be responsible for providing technical and system integration design leadership for Caterpillar and Perkins branded engines. You will also be responsible for end-to-end development including directing and ensuring proper design and integration of AT systems, management of technical information including requirements, supplier management, driving strong manufacturing collaboration, and ensuring adherence to Caterpillar Product and Process Excellence standards.

 

JOB DUTIES:

·       Responsible for seamless integration of AT system working with Core Technology experts and team members from multiple locations globally

·       Establish themselves as a strong technical leader and system integration specialist

·       Develop and manage complex projects to plan

·       Responsible for drawing and model quality

·       Provide direction to staff primarily based out of Chennai but also at other locations, via robust CPPD practices

·       Establish, develop and maintain strong relationship and collaboration with Manufacturing and Suppliers, building consensus and ensuring product is developed first time right

·       Champion and adhere to Caterpillar Lean development principles

·       Drive innovation and foster continuous learning within the team

·       Adopt flexible approach to ensure enough overlap of working hours with teams in USA/UK

·       Mentor, coach and develop others


Qualifications

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

·       Requires an accredited Mechanical Engineering degree

·       12+ years of combined experience in Component and System Development for Diesel Engines and/or Aftertreatment

·       Experience managing projects and leading global teams to deliver new product designs into production

·       Good knowledge of Pro-E / Teamcenter and expert in GD&T

·       Expert with standard NPI process tools such as FMEA, DVP&R, APQP, PPAP, BIQ, etc.

·       Strong ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers and suppliers

·       Field support and Factory support experience

·       VAVE execution and Cost Reduction experience

·       Good knowledge of Caterpillar products

 

TOP CANDIDATES will have:

·       Advanced degree from reputed institution

·       5+ years of Aftertreatment component (DOC/DPF/SCR/DEF Tank/Lines) design and/or development / calibration experience working with global and regional teams

·       AT validation and failure analysis skills

·       Previous history of developing and publishing Design Guides for Engine / AT components / systems

·       Experience in developing and integrating regional suppliers in alignment with enterprise requirements

·       Cross functional experience related to engines / AT in other domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality

·       Exposure to Electrical Harness development
