Job Description


When you join Caterpillar as a Quality Manager in our Wamego facility, you will use your expertise, leadership and collaborative skills to ensure conformity with quality processes resulting in the premium value products our customers expect. 

In this role, you can expect:

  • Serve as the facility quality subject matter expert responsible for communicating and promoting the quality philosophy and providing quality related guidance across the facility.
  • Lead a team of 8 to 10 Quality Technicians to drive effective quality processes in the Wamego facility.
  • Ensure products conform to specifications.
  • Ensure product defect reporting.
  • Set priorities and establish review schedules for product and equipment quality control.
  • Lead Quality initiatives with the Caterpillar Production System.
  • Develop, implement and monitor quality plans to meet standards and certification compliance.
  • Conduct and report on internal quality audits.
  • Lead efforts to respond to customer feedback for quality improvements.
  • Act as a Quality contact for internal and external customers.
  • Partner with suppliers to improve the quality of products delivered to the facility.
  • Implement and support Supplier Certification programs both internally and externally.
  • Provide support for corporate quality-related programs.
  • Lead and strengthen work teams relative to efficiency


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Manufacturing-related discipline from an accredited college or university OR equivalent years (four) of experience in quality/manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 6 years of work experience in progressively responsible quality / manufacturing roles
  • Superior understanding of quality management practices
  • General knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal, communications, teamwork and collaboration skills
