Job Description


JOB DESCRIPTION: Perform a variety of technical and clerical functions related to the circulation, acquisition, and cataloging/processing of print and non-print materials and related equipment within a corporate engineering library. Performs technical duties related to the acquisition and cataloging of library materials in addition to special projects as assigned. Maintains library materials and equipment.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  1. Circulation:  Perform circulation processes including checkout, overdue notices, journal routings, repairs to materials, shelving, create alerts and/or other information distribution plans based on customer requirements. 

  2. Collection Maintenance: Perform shelf reads, conduct inventories, and execute weeding as directed by the Collection Development Librarian.

  3. Procurement: Coordinate and manage procurement processes for the section.  This includes generating purchase requisitions, coordinating purchases and serving as administrator for the procurement card process, generating and managing the internal voucher process, and using the Account Payable system to determine vendor payment dates/status.

  4. Interlibrary Loan Support: Provide operational support to Interlibrary Loan Librarian such as pulling materials, scanning of articles/books, etc.

  5. Data Entry:  Enters records into on-line computer catalog; resolves grief records; maintains statistics and relevant usage records.

  6. Orientation/Information Desk:  Performs orientation tours, helps users locate items, and explains library services.


Basic Qualifications


  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a Library Technical Assistant (or equivalent, e.g. school media technician) certificate
  • 1+ years' of experience in a library or equivalent experience involving customer service or general clerical duties


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Prior experience with client/server software with integrated cataloging, serials, and circulation modules

  • Work experience in a library

  • Technical services work experience in a library

  • Proficient in MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Eagerness to assist
  • Listens well and asks constructive questions
  • Good time management/ability to prioritize
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well in teams or independently
  • Good attention to detail and strong work ethic
