Job Description


Caterpillar Defense currently has an opening for a Product Service Engineer in the Lifecycle Solutions (LCS) aftermarket business located in Peoria, IL. In this role, you will be accountable for technical support of the Military Rebuild Program, machine marketing and customer inquiries received by the Caterpillar call center.  

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • The successful applicant will work in a teaming environment consisting of contract administrators, service engineers, account managers and program managers.  The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing and obtaining government approval of work requests from dealers, creating recommended parts lists to support machine sales and respond to customer requests for technical information.  This will include direct contact with dealers evaluating machine repair options for the military rebuild program, working with Caterpillar Defense machine account managers to define customer needs for recommended parts lists and interacting directly with government customers to resolve their technical issues.  This is responsible for resolution of customer problems.
  • This position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates with others in the team environment to meet demanding rigid deadlines.  Customer focus is a primary required attribute.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge
    • Universal degree or equivalent (Cat dealer/military) experience
    • Strong business acumen
    • Proficient analytics tools user
    • Intermediate knowledge of customer solutions (parts products, service offerings, solution offerings)
  • Interpersonal skills
    • Strong communication & presentation skills
    • Excellent influencing skills at all levels
    • Team player
    • Self-starter, able to work autonomously
    • Strong accountability
    • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Min 3-5 years military experience
  • Ca Machine Service Experience
  • Ability to work independently and to communication effectively with others in the work group
  • Ability to work on increasingly more complex assignments and provide direction to others

This position involves items or information which may be subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or controlled for national security or other reasons under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  U.S. law prohibits the release of U.S. controlled technology and technical data to certain persons without an approved export license.  Therefore persons being considered for this position must be: (1) a U.S. citizen (2) Green Card holder, (3) protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) or (4) qualified for a license, license exemption, or other form of authorization, in order to satisfy the requirements for this position.
