Job duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Plan job and layout to drawings, sketches or instructions. Determine material and equipment requirements and requisition through section manager or secure from stock. Measure, cut, band and thread pipe or tubing using hand or power tools, flaring devices, cutting torches, taps, dies and scale or rule. Assemble fittings, tees, union’s, etc. by soldering threading or caulking as required, also layout and align for welding and install piping erecting scaffolding or using ladders as necessary. Secure piping, pumps, units, etc. with bolts, screws, hangers, etc. and apply insulation or covering where necessary. Attach pipe systems to pumps, air conditioning units and central systems, compressors, pumps, valves, gauges, water meters, flow meters, steam traps and other equipment where required. Test and adjust as required and return scaffolding, ladders, drawings and other equipment. Make hangers and supports by cutting and forming metal sheets or bars.
Perform all operations on all new or existing facilities such as air, water, steam, oil, gases of all types, sewers and other utility service systems, air conditioning units, central systems, compressors, plumbing fixtures, sprinkler systems, low pressure boilers, production machinery and other equipment and areas where utility service conveyed by pipe systems is required. Respond to emergency alarms on the fire protection (sprinkler) systems; shut-down or deactivate necessary pumps, valves, etc and notify appropriate personnel.
Journeyman Pipefitter, Journeyman Millwright (state indentured), or Union Journeyman Card, or minimum 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of gas, water, oil, air lines and tubing.
Minimum 3 years in an industrial environment OR successful completion of an approved, field-related college/technical school program, a pipefitter apprenticeship, military training, or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret machine mechanical prints and hydraulic schematics.

This position is located at the Caterpillar manufacturing facility located in South Milwaukee, WI and is part of Caterpillar's Surface Mining & Technology Division. This position is 1st shift, and starting pay is $25.35 with incremental increases at 12 months ($26.41) and 24 months ($27.47) of active work. Full-time benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a matching Tax-Deferred Savings Plan. No relocation assistance is available.
