Job Description



To manage accurate and timely recording, analysis, summarization of business information for the facility. Responsible for more complex and diverse accounting functions including Payroll apart from tax and payables, ensure compliance.


This position typically provides supervision with both technical and administrative responsibility for a team of primarily management staff working on Accounts Payable (facility role), Tax and Payroll. Overall accounting policies have been prescribed, but there is a continual need to interpret, coordinate and record activities resulting from constantly changing business conditions. Incumbent should possess comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s accounting processes & systems and typically has had prior supervisory experience.

Direct & Indirect Tax specific - has good knowledge of the principles of direct and indirect taxes with detailed knowledge about current tax laws in Indonesia and with a process improvement mindset. Works with Global Tax and Trade Manager(s) to obtain advice and provide support to businesses. Support the Global VAT Process requirements. Lead Indirect Tax compliance process, reviewing data, preparing and filing returns for the facility.


Managing People:

  • Supervises primarily management personnel who perform accounting functions of varying complexity including working with selected financial systems, interpreting and adhering to Caterpillar’s accounting practices and procedures.

  • Manages a team and their related workload, prioritizes projects, assigns and reviews work, and controls the daily operating environment.

  • Evaluates and reports on staff performance, participates in employee selection, provides career guidance and training direction, complies with personnel practices, and promotes team rewards and successes.

  • Provides technical guidance and expertise on accounting, tax and payroll.

  • Motivates team members to work towards individual and team goals and objectives and fosters an environment of teamwork and cooperation.


Managing Expectations:

  • Participates in the development and support of business strategies, to improve OPACC.

  • Communicates effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers, including presentations to all levels of management.

  • Identifies, establishes, prioritizes and communicates goals and objectives of team.

  • Provides services, makes recommendations and manages costs.

Performing Complex Staff Work:

  • Provides technical guidance and expertise on business issues of facility relating to tax and accounting.

  • Leads initiatives outside team to represent the group (e.g. process improvements, new business requirements).

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers and customers.



Required Qualifications:

Position requires a 4-year college or university degree in accounting. Must have proven record of success and accomplishments at lower levels, with prior supervisory experience. Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, good judgment and superior communication skills. Strong analytical, process improvement, problem solving, and human relations skills are also necessary. 6-8 years of accounting experience is required. As the position requires working knowledge of tax laws in Indonesia, experience in tax is required as well. Exposure in SAP environment – FICO required. Professionally certified accountants (CPA/CMA) are preferred.
