Job Description


Caterpillar of Australia is currently seeking an energetic, highly motivated Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our Queensland Distribution Centre (QDC) based in Yatala, QLD.  Reporting to the Logistics Centre Manager, this role will be responsible for the proactive & effective coordination of all safety related activities across the facility. The successful applicant must have a drive and passion for safety.  This role will ideally suit someone who has had prior experience in the safety field and is wanting a more challenging and diverse role with a large organisation.



  • Support, guide and coach the Leadership Team to effectively execute all Safety Initiatives in line with our strategy

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Safety and environmental legislation and corporate policies

  • Develop, implement and review safety procedures and policies and ensure compliance throughout the facility  

  • Initiate and launch engaging safety initiatives to drive Caterpillar’s ‘zero injury’ objective throughout the facility focusing on the embedment of a safety first and accountability culture

  • Be an active member of all safety initiatives programs

  • Perform risk assessments, manage existing/arising hazards and incidents and provide recommendations of corrective and preventative measures

  • Manage audit activities for the facility including safety and environmental audits, generating relevant leading indicators

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and external sources to provide relevant safety related training to QDC employees

  • Oversee the Emergency Safety Procedure and coordinate regular refresher training

  • Coordinate injury management via return to work plans as required

  • Conduct safety inductions and validations of Safe Work Methods


To be successful in the position, the suitable candidate must possess:

  • Five plus years’ experience in a safety role within a large, diverse and fast paced environment
  • Formal Tertiary OH&S Qualifications (bachelor’s degree or higher would be highly advantageous)
  • Strong analytical skills as well as a history of demonstrable initiative
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable State OHS legislation and experience in implementing risk management processes
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Positive Interpersonal & collaborative skills with the ability to influence


You must hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency to be eligible for this position.
