Global Finance Services Division

Caterpillar’s Global Finance Services Division (GFSD) has enterprise responsibility to provide fiduciary accountability, reporting and regulatory compliance through a variety of disciplines including tax, treasury, strategy, audit, investor relations and indirect procurement.  With roughly 5,000 employees located across the globe, GSFD ensures their customers and business partners are provided with quality insights, analysis and services, as well as strong extended enterprise relationships, while providing deep expertise as trusted partners to the businesses we serve.

The Global Finance Services (GFSD) Division has an exciting opportunity available as a Human Resources Manager based in Deerfield, IL, and leading a team of 7-8 HR Business Partners.

Position Summary:

The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for leading, guiding, counseling, overseeing, and supporting all critical and strategic human resource needs and initiatives for the organization which includes Indirect Procurement, Accounting, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis/Services, Group CFO teams, Tax, Treasury, Strategy, Auditing and Investor Relations organizations acting as an integral business partner and advisor. This position also provides leadership and supports execution of Business Unit level HR, including performance management and business unit HR metrics.  This individual will be responsible for overseeing and driving the business strategy of GFSD through supportive HR leadership and services with a customer focused mindset.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to become a trusted business partner for leaders, bringing a passion for talent and strategic thinking while delivering practical, results orientated solutions.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and expertise for the full scope of Talent/Human Resource functions for client groups including: strategic workforce planning, organizational design, employee relations, talent acquisition and recruitment as well as full suite of consultative services to support leaders and employees.
  • Partnering with business leaders to attract, assess, develop and retain critical talent for the organization while driving a meaningful employee experience.
  • Supporting and coaching business leaders to create a high-performing work environment to maximize capability individually and collectively.
  • Providing direction and guidance to all levels of employees on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency.
  • Actively participating as a functional manager on the business team ensuring talent is an integral part of the business strategy.
  • Consulting, recommending and developing leaders to ensure proper and effective workforce planning, employee selection and practices, and succession planning of their teams while providing perspective on policy and practice interpretation and application.
  • Assisting managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness issues.
  • Manage a team of primarily management/professional employees where some review of work is required as well as training, developing and mentoring team members. The position is responsible for management of a small team of junior human resource business partners.
  • Confronting complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis leveraging data and facts to provide business recommendations to senior leaders. 
  • Addressing problems that require original and often unique approaches that are modified where appropriate to support the business and employees. 

Traveling is required is limited to moderate, 5-15% of working time.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (preferred in related HR field)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience, with experiences in the following areas (including a working knowledge of professional services employees):
  • Employee compensation & benefits
  • Employment practices
  • Employee/leader training and development
  • Communications
  • Change management
  • Succession planning
  • Talent acquisition & recruitment
  • Must consider both traditional and non-traditional approaches to talent management and human resource business partnership
  • Excellent interpersonal, influence and leadership skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the organization to take specific actions.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a high performing team
  • Strong business judgment, business acumen and ability to utilize data to bring solutions
  • Excellent influencing, coaching and interpersonal skills preferably with senior leaders and their leadership teams
  • Ability to innovate and willing to challenge the status quo
  • Internal and external customer service focus
  • Experience bringing strategy to life by partnership with business leaders to design an organization and execute the requisite talent steps associated
  • Experience leading in a transformative environment where change occurs quickly and providing relevant solutions is critical
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills; ability to bring a story to life using variety of platforms
  • Ability to create a vision, lead change, act as a change agent, and strive for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated success in a highly matrixed organizational structure

The preferred location for this role is Deerfield, IL. Relocation will be provided to those who are eligible.
