Job Title:  Regional Applications Engineering Manager
Salary: £65,890 – £68,000 (Depending on Experience) 
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire        
Benefits:  25 days annual leave,

The Opportunity
An opportunity exists within Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) Sales & Marketing Group, for an Applications Engineering Manager, leading a regional team, as part of the Service and Customer Support group (SCS). The Applications engineering team are the primary technical interface with 3rd party customers and are responsible for product integration into customers machines, from engine selection, validation through to production. 
As an engine Applications Engineering Manager, you will coach, guide and facilitate the development of a work group supporting customers who are applying and integrating Perkins and CAT branded engines into their machines. Your team will add customer value through their technical expertise whilst ensuring the installation demonstrates the quality standards we expect. 
You’ll provide managerial and technical direction as required in customer engine integration as well as provide a customer orientation towards our product / process design and development. You will create and maintain an organizational culture which encourages innovation, collaboration (particularly with customers, sales and engineering), excitement, commitment and a sense of urgency towards business success and customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Lead a highly capable team of 17 engineers with responsibility for the technical relationship and support for 3rd party direct OEM’s, Perkins distributors and Cat Industrial dealers, within the EAME region
Provide coaching to ensure the team consider time, cost, quality and performance criteria to maximise customer satisfaction
Develop and maintain a high performing team which is recognised as a competitive advantage delivering outstanding customer service
Management of resources aligned with business objectives and Sales to provide a robust approval of new applications for direct Industrial OEM’s and focused EP OEM’s
Influence and set technical standards and processes to ensure a robust applications signoff 
Provide A&I training and technical support to Perkins distributors and Cat Industrial dealers as an extended part of the team within our network
Collaborate with customers and engine Product Groups supporting NPI programs with application expertise, communicating progress with internal partners and customers.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience: 

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum;
Proven team leadership skills, ability to motivate, develop and inspire
Ability to influence the organisation and drive actions to resolve complex situations which may arise
Strong analytical skills
Expert collaborator, able to build and maintain effective relationships with critical business partners

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

Breadth of engine or machine knowledge and experience including products, processes, design and evaluation
An advanced degree is desired or an equivalent practical experience with engines or machine development
