Job Description:

The system engineer role on the Operator and Safety Systems team involves design activities, as well as verification and validation activities as it pertains to Safety Systems.  You will spend time working requirements with the extended team, in the lab testing our subsystems and at the proving grounds verifying our design.  You will work within an immediate team of 5-6 engineers and with numerous internal & external process partners. The engineer will be responsible for creating detailed design documentation with internal development teams and suppliers and become knowledgeable in areas such as radar based object detection and camera based vision systems. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the development and completion of machine operator systems projects

  • Drive hardware and software design requirements through the development and production process

  • Gather requirements from internal customers, process partners, and regulatory teams

  • Create and manage detailed design documentation (system, hardware, software)

  • Support system level activities

  • Participate or support EMC system level tests

  • Travel to proving ground or customer sites for test support when needed

  • Maintain alignment with legacy and future products and systems


Basic Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree
  • 2 or more years of experience working with embedded systems, sub systems, components or software
  • Ability to work in a team environment, communicating technical information and development progress to team members and others
  • Strong communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse work group
  • The ability to create and execute a plan based on a requirements document

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Exposure to Safety Systems including Radar, Cameras, Displays etc…
  • Experience with communications protocol development ie CAN Datalink
  • Experience with Labview and Python
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with very little direction
  • Experience with FMEA and DVPNR processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes
  • Experience with embedded systems and software for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications
