Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel and gas engines ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, and the key engine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment and cooling which are used to power oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine applications around the world.
The Large Power Systems Division has a Manufacturing Engineering Manager position open located at our Hodges, SC facility. In this role
you will be supervising staff responsible for developing and implementing new and improved manufacturing equipment, materials, processes and methods to improve quality and reduce costs of company product and operations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc. and requires the coordination of all disciplines
Ensuring optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc.
Coordinating the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts
Responsibility for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of team
May also be responsible for the acquisition of new vehicles and maintaining the fleet for a facility; disposition of surplus machines; investigation and negotiation of contracts
Top candidates will also have:
- 3+ years of manufacturing and/or operations experience
- Bachelor or Technical degree in an accredited manufacturing or engineering related curriculum
- 1+ years of supervisory and/or team lead experience
- 3+ years of experience in a foundry environment
- General understanding of the Caterpillar organization, products, policies, and procedures
- Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
- Thorough knowledge of the planning system, manufacturing operations, facilities, methods and tooling required.
