Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel and gas
enginges ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, and the key
engine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment and cooling which are used to
power oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine
applications around the world.
Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for a
Manufacturing Engineering located at our Pontiac, IL facility. As a
Manufacturing Engineering at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems and processes, consisting of complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated manufacturing machines.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, analyzing, and
managing Manufacturing/Assembly Projects
- Assisting in developing
department capital and expense budgets
- Maintaining individual
capital forecast
- Administering the assemble
New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure that Engineering drawings are
released and processed on time for NPI build
- Working with multiple
departments to ensure material flow, material availability, tooling and quality
processes are implemented for successful NPI and engineering change management
- Training new processors and
developing training programs and documentation for Processors and Assemblers
- Developing and documenting Manufacturing
Engineering processes for training and development of Manufacturing Engineers
and Engineering Techs
- Engaging in creative problem
solving to address operational issues including: ergonomic/safety, efficiency
improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerts
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years manufacturing related work experience in machining processes
Lathe, Mill, Swiss, ECM type machining experience
CNC Programming experience
Understanding of engineering prints and operational drawings
Experience with NPI processes and/or APQP processes (Control Plan, FMEA, Process Flow, Work Instructions)
Experience with writing work instructions/standard work
Knowledge of various gauging procedures
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) or technical degree, preferably in a manufacturing engineering related discipline OR 10+ years of machining experience
- Experience with CAD Software (AutoCAD, PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc.)
- Experience in programing and developing processes for Multi Turret Lathes, 4 & 5 axes Mill and Swiss Style Machines
- Experience in Close Tolerance Machining (flatness, roundness, straightness, parallelism, perpendicularity)
- Experience in Tool design, Cutting Tool Progresses and Operational Drawing
- Background in Lean Principles
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Champion of facility safety procedures
- Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background
- Thorough experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
