A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Market Development Consultant to join our Sales, Marketing, Servicing & Parts (SMSP) Product Marketing team based in Seguin TX.

As the Market Development Consultant, you will identify, evaluate and develop business cases for opportunities of new market segments that support sales growth objectives and improve profitability. You will then follow this through the Caterpillar NPI process and lead a team accountable for the launch to the market.


 

As the successful candidate you will;


  • Provide leadership to the business unit covering industries, markets, new products, applications, and distribution needs to support new business development. This will include identification, evaluation and business case development.

    • Turn input from the customers and markets into actionable product requirements working with the product team.

    • Ensure results and recommendations for business development are presented to senior management through commercial business cases.

  • Participate in long-term strategy development, assist in developing and maintaining multi-year plans and objectives, and provide competitive analysis to support business planning. You will interpret competitive current and future capabilities and plans across a broad range of industries and markets and provide financial analysis in profit centre strategic planning.

  • Lead management in planning and execution of major programs, products, and objectives for business unit investment for new sales growth.

  • Be accountable for the product launch to customers and the market, pulling on a wider marketing team for expertise and execution as required.

  • Serve as a companywide resource on a product range, assisting senior management and sales in interpreting and using information provided.

  • Enable effective selling by building and communicating compelling customer value propositions that are understood both internally and externally,

  • Travel to understand regional or worldwide business conditions.


 

This high profile role will provide great opportunity to gain deep understanding into the commercial, product management and marketing functions with-in Caterpillar and provide a fundamental building block to progress to wide range of senior position

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in preferably an accredited Business Management /Marketing and/or Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in Business to Business Marketing and/or product development


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively at all level of the organization, including peer groups, senior management and customer leadership teams.
  • Ability to drive actions through the organization
  • Must be able to adhere to travel schedule
  • Previous customer facing experience or sales experience would be beneficial

  • Prior experience in engine control system development (preferably in the off-highway industry)

  • Ability to coach and train others

  • Experience of the Caterpillar NPI process.

  • Six Sigma black belt experience

  • Relocation is available for this position
  • Travel is 25% required.
